Ben Kweller and The Watson Twins at The Varsity

Last week we went to see Ben Kweller and The Watson Twins at The Varsity theater in Dinkytown. This was our first show at The Varsity, not a bad venue at all.

I was really excited to see The Watson Twins again since their last show at the turf we saw was a solid. They did not disappoint. The first couple songs the sound seemed a little off, the music was over powering their vocals but the sound guy seemed to fix it quickly. They mostly did songs from the album Fire Songs. They also did a really good cover of Bill Wither's "Ain't No Sunshine."

Now on to Ben Kweller. I have to admit I wasn't extremely excited to see Ben but I knew it would probably be a good show. Kweller rocked the house! I was very impressed with how talented he and his band are and the high energy of the show. Ben's new album "Changing Horses" was his first attempt at an alt country album. It was fun to hear some of his older songs with the lap steel guitar giving them a cool country feel. I would go see Ben again in a heartbeat and suggest that you go too!
