Who would have thought an ass kickin' could be so fun!
The mighty Manchester Divided took to the pitch last Thursday night for my first ever soccer game. I started out in goal and it didn't take long to realize we were way out of league. I probably successfully stopped 6 or 7 shots but managed to let 8 by me. Needless to say that was probably the last time I will play goalie. I was getting frustrated with myself and was starting to get let down that as much as I wanted it to be soccer just wasn't the sport for me. But once I got out of the goal, my attitude changed. I was having a blast out there. I had a nice header for an assist on our one goal we scored thanks to the golden foot of Joe. Other than that I didn't really do anything special but run around a lot but it was a really good time. We ended up losing 14 to 1 but that didn't really matter to anyone. We all seem eager to improve and keep having fun. I can't wait until our next game.

The Day Before the Big Game
Tomorrow will be my first soccer match and I am getting super excited, and a little nervous. I picked up some new bad ass looking shin guards by Adidas. I tried on my whole uniform the other day with all my new gear and took a look in the mirror. I was hoping to see something that looked like David Beckham but nope it was just me with goofy looking shins and red shoes.
I still haven't done any actually soccer training or drills, haha. I plan on taking care of that business just minutes before the game. but I have dropped 13 pounds in the last two months, which is short of my goal but I feel healthy. I am sure I will be hating life once the game starts and realize how much running is actually involved but we'll see.
Check back on Friday for a recap of the match and to hear if this soccer thing is for me.
